In New Zealand, there are 8 universities, 23 polytechnics or institutes of technology (ITPs), and 860 private training establishments (PTEs).
New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) is in charge of approving and registering all polytechnic and private training institution courses and national qualifications. NZQA is also in charge of the accreditation and registration of PTEs. A PTE must be a licensed provider with NZQA in order to provide NZQA approved courses.
New Zealand Vice-Chancellors’ Committee (NZVCC) is in charge of approving all New Zealand universities’ diplomas, undergraduate, and graduate programs.
ITPNZ – Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics of New Zealand is in charge of monitoring and authorizing all polytechnic credentials offered locally.
In New Zealand’s schools and universities, there are 10 stages of study. A certificate is the lowest rank, and a doctoral degree is the highest.
- There are four types of certificates.
- Levels 5 and 6 are diplomas.
- Level 7 qualifications include bachelor’s degrees and graduate diplomas.
- Level 8 qualifications include postgraduate certificates and diplomas, as well as bachelor’s degrees with honors.

Steps to be followed to qualify for the Skilled Migration Category are as under:
Expression of Interest:
The applicant must express his or her desire to migrate to New Zealand by stating his or her age, qualifications, experience, and information about his or her family. To be considered for the pool, an applicant must score at least 100 points.
If the applicant receives enough points, the expression of interest is approved, and an invitation letter to apply to Migrate is sent to the applicant. To complete the transfer process, the applicant must fill out the application and attach all supporting documentation.
